At first impression the elegant, eco-friendly, watch box shows the time and dedication that went into the development of this special piece. The exterior of the box is vegan white leather with gold detail including the By Charles Jay logo on top. The interior is a lavender microsuede with a royal blue cylinder cushion for the watch. All those colors combined are a perfect match to the colors of the actual watch.

"URBANE EFFECT"

Saturday's at the mall are usually meant for shoppers to come find the newest designer pieces to rock later that night when they hit the scene. July 6th was different, as emerging designer Charles Jay brought the scene to the mall. Charles pioneered something unlike anything else the South Jersey area has scene before. He teamed up with "You Know The Vibes" to bring URBANE's pop up shop event to the Cherry Hill Mall.

The vibe was set from the moment you walked in. Models were on display as URBANE unveiled their latest sets, that are expected to drop this week. As you walked through the shop cameras were flashing as the DJ spun the latest music, people danced, and an influx of people instantly stopped to see what the buzz was about. The energy you felt throughout the day was like no other, and it was a direct result of the hard work and effort Charles Jay puts into his craft.

CLOTHING LINE REFLECTS HIS CANCER AND HOOPS EXPERIENCES

Richardson says he tries to design clothes that make a statement and tell a story.

The statement is bold and bright.

The story is even better.

Richardson, 25, is a cancer survivor and former basketball standout at Winslow Township and Rutgers-Camden University. He tries to weave his unique life story into every aspect of his clothing line.

"My basketball experience taught me so much," Richardson said. "All I ever heard was, 'You're too small. You're not big enough. You're not good enough.'

"You hear that enough, it motivates you. You learn how to fight, how to never give up. I bring that to everything I do."

Through his company, Avenue Black, Richardson designs clothes for his Urbane line that are creative and colorful, with a street-smart sensibility, with a basketball star's flamboyance...
